i saw grace jones perform at the hollywood bowl along with of montreal.... F**N RAD! it blew my mind. grace is 61 and the hottest woman on the planet. a costume change for every song. it was the concert of the summer.

pina bausch.

i will forever remember the first time my mother took me to ucla and we saw the most amazing performance i have EVER seen. it was a pina bausch choreographed performance... carnations. it was the most magical experience. i saw her perform once more and it was equally amazing. her recent death is too sad for words. i just feel so lucky that i did have the opportunity to witness one of the most incredible performers and visionaries of our time. she continues to inspire me.

cake love.

all that is missing is a little squirrel sitting on top with a flower in her hair.

marc wants rights too.

i am so happy to see these new shirts designed by marc jacobs. Marc Jacobs has released a great pair of limited edition tees beautifully stating ‘I pay my taxes, I want my rights‘. (available only in Marc by Marc Jacobs stores in the US.)

bag lady.

vertical gardens please.

i am currently obsessed with vertical gardens. they are a big source of inspiration for my upcoming installation. there is something so remarkable about the positioning of plants on the wall, much like a painting but the plants grow! they shift! they change! they breathe! i am bored with paint these days. its all about green growth. more to come.

great planter...legs.

these rock. they might just start to walk towards each other and begin to do the can-can dance. designed by arik levy.

carolee schneemann knows.

vesper & infinity kisses, by carolee schneemann

i sometimes worry that perhaps my blog has become too much of a kitty album. however i am always reminded when viewing photos of carolee schneemann and her cat companions (in her artwork, mind you) that i could never post too many furry friend portraits. thanks carolee.

the life.

my cats teach me everyday that life is about enjoying the little stuff. here is looey setting an example by taking in the full experience of his catnip planter i made for him and nimbi. nimbi got all up in it after he left (high). cats rock. watch a cat and learn.

i am still trying to chew on this...

these images are of a performance titled Tantalus Dinner by artist Ioli Sifakaki. Apparently Royal College graduate student had designed a dinner service cast from her own body and then invited a dozen of her male friends to feast from the tableware.
i like aspects of this performance but i don't totally get the male only cast. for me it reinforces the divide between woman and man too strongly. i am all for pleasuring others through your body (literally and visually and then some) but this is kinda... i mean. i don't know yet.
maybe the part that bothers me is the women actually serving the men on the sidelines. did the men have to pay? did they have to show their weiners to get to eat? did they get poisioned? or maybe they had to declare their love? what was the trade? is this piece to generous or maybe that is just it. maybe it is supposed to be so generous that i feel uncomfortable. but still. that discomfort isn't satisfying enough for me. there is no total sense of "fuck ya!".

pillows for pleasure.

the eye of the beholder.

i dig this eye mirror....

they say:

"Reynolds mirror

Low-tech Luxury

Our Reynolds collection is a couture and crafty use of a mundane material: plywood. We have stacked plywood and carved it so that it brings out the striations in the wood, like a low-tech version of a hardwood grain. It is a surprising celebration of the beauty in a commonplace material."

just a section

i love the selective process of these colors in these interiors. i think i found this on D*S, not sure...

i see yellow...

erick and i painted our dinning room (pics later) and we are lovin' yellow. this recent Design*Sponge sneek peak (julie torres moskovitz) totally inspires me to paint another wall yellow. maybe outside? i wish i wasn't renting. my home would be super radical. for reals. click here for the full julie torres moskovitz home tour.
